Earlyworks

Today we took the Gnomeslayer to the Earlyworks children's museum downtown. It's good to get her out sometimes so that she can run amok somewhere besides our house.

The museum features many exhibits that are both educational about Alabama and early American history, as well as some that are just fun playtime.

There is a giant talking tree that tells stories from back in the Civil War days. Today he told us the story of the "Knee High Man that wanted to grow sizeable", and how he went to a Horse, a Bull and an Owl to get advice. He finds out that it isn't your physical size that is important, it's how big you think.

There were exhibits that detailed Native American culture, African American culture, architecture, handicrafts, transportation, mining, farming and commerce.

There was also a play area that had a tank with floating fish and ducks, a post office, grocery store, garden, chicken coop and puppets. This is our favorite part, because it keeps GS occupied for a long time. It's definately a great place to go when we need to get out of the house for a while. :)
